Vernon County asks SEMA to seek FEMA assessment after recent floods

The commission also described outreach to townships about applying for assistance once federal aid is approved. A SEMA packet referencing FEMA declaration DR-4872 — tied to tornado damage from April 2, 2025 — was returned by email to Martina Murdock, Advanced Emergency Management Officer with the Department of Public Safety, Recovery Division, as part of the county's disaster-recovery paperwork. Commissioners said they placed calls to township trustees to notify them of the FEMA application and of steps townships can take to apply for assistance.
