Police secure $248,955 DUI grant and 10-year Axon contract, officials say

Captain Afton Alvin told the council the department secured its largest grant during the reporting period: a $248,955 DUI grant from the highway patrol for enforcement, education, equipment and training. "We secured our largest grant in our history... $248,955," Alvin said, and noted the money funded DUI enforcement and two patrol cars dedicated to that effort.
Alvin also described a 10‑year contract with Axon covering body-worn cameras, in-car cameras, drone and records enhancements and said the department has deployed translation services and other Axon features. She said court automation and automated subpoenas are also saving staff time by replacing manual filing and transport of case reports.
