St. Armand highway crew readies new plow truck, approves equipment purchases and summer help

Highway Superintendent Douglas (Doug) Snickles told the Town Board that routine spring work is underway — sand pickup is nearly finished, stage siding and trim are stained and ready, mowing has begun and the 2015 International vehicle is being readied for auction. He reported that the new plow truck is complete and awaiting delivery and that staff training and attic insulation work were finished.
Mr. Snickles asked whether summer help could begin in the next few weeks; Supervisor Davina Thurston agreed. He requested $900 for a cordless Milwaukee impact wrench; Councilperson Donna Whitelaw moved to approve and Councilperson Sheridan Swinyer seconded. The board voted unanimously to approve the purchase. Separately, Mr. Snickles asked that up to $8,000 from the DA fund be made available to purchase a new mower later in the year; Deputy Supervisor Karl Law moved that expenditure and the board approved the $8,000 authorization by roll-call vote (all AYE).
