The Bronxville Planning Board approved a limited sidewalk seating arrangement for a restaurant after hearing from the applicant and discussing pedestrian circulation and safety. Leonard Bridal of Brandes Architects (speaker 4), representing the applicant, said the proposal would add eight seats arranged as four small tables and that the plan maintains six feet of clear space between seating and the curb: "We're looking just for 8 8 seats and 4 tables." The applicant also said the furniture would be brought in each night and that an awning would remove the need for umbrellas.
Board members expressed concern about the block’s heavy foot traffic and relayed the police chief’s preference for a 10-foot clear path. After debate over whether to allow two tables of two or larger configurations, several members recommended starting conservatively. Board member (speaker 2) moved to approve two tables nearest the building with up to three chairs each; the motion carried on a voice vote. The board and applicant agreed the smaller configuration could be revisited in a future meeting and that planters or other delineators would be used to help keep pedestrian flow clear.
