Following an executive session, the Blue Ridge City Council accepted the resignation of an employee and made a short-term administrative appointment.
A council member moved to accept Vance Lipke's resignation and place him on administrative leave for 90 days and to authorize the city attorney to draft a separation agreement consistent with the employment contract; the motion was seconded and the council approved it in open session.
The council then moved to appoint Joni Lawrence as interim city administrator until further notice; that motion was seconded and approved by the council in open session.
Staff indicated the attorney will draft the separation agreement and manage administrative-leave arrangements and that the interim appointment will remain in place until council determines a longer-term staffing plan.
