"Texas Local Government Code 211.007A ... says the governing body of a municipality may appoint a planning and zoning commission consisting of members who must be residents of the municipality on the sheet I have," Staff member said while reading from research the group had pulled. Council directed staff to obtain further written legal clarification and to circulate the specific code citations and attorney opinions before any ordinance change is drafted.
The item was treated as a workshop discussion; staff said they would verify the statutory language and attorney opinions and bring a clearer recommendation back to council.
