Bronxville swears in new officers and promotes two to sergeant

The Village Board held a swearing-in and promotion ceremony Jan. 12 that advanced two officers to sergeant and welcomed several newly sworn officers to the Bronxville Police Department.
Mayor called a special recognition at the start of the meeting to honor police personnel and asked Police Chief Chris Satriale to lead the ceremony. "We are here to celebrate the hiring of 2 new officers that have completed their field training and are working the main streets of Bronxville," Satriale said, and introduced returning officers and supervisory promotions.
The board unanimously approved a resolution appointing Police Officer Nigel Butler to Police Sergeant, effective 01/12/2026, and Police Officer Ahmed Danzo Farid to Police Sergeant, effective 01/13/2026. Nigel Butler, who moved from Jamaica as a teen and holds a bachelor's degree in behavioral science from Mercy College, took the oath and briefly thanked family and colleagues. The meeting also included oaths for newly field‑trained officers Giovanni Leo and Amabile Reyes and remembrances of department service. The chief and trustees said the promotions followed civil‑service promotional lists and police promotions committee interviews; the board approved the appointments by voice vote.
