The St. Armand Town Board voted unanimously on June 17 to direct the Essex County Treasurer to levy $79,648.09 onto the town tax bill for 4 Union Lane (tax map #13.57-4-3.100) to cover contractor and abatement costs following a fire and subsequent unsafe-structure determination. Councilperson JP O'Neil offered Resolution #42, which the board adopted by roll call vote 5–0.
The resolution lists the expenses the Town incurred: Curtis Lumber materials to secure the building ($513.09); KAS, Inc. asbestos inspection/testing for the house ($2,650.00) and for the barn/RV ($1,485.00); MP Environmental Services asbestos abatement ($16,200.00); and Dan's Hauling & Demo demolition/removal payments totaling $57,100.00. The resolution directs the Essex County Treasurer's Office to place the $79,648.09 charge on the tax bill for the property. "LET IT BE RESOLVED; the Town of St. Armand does hereby direct the Essex County Treasurer’s office to levy the amount of $79,648.09 onto the Town Tax bill for 4 Union Lane, Bloomingdale NY 12913," the resolution states in full as adopted in the minutes.
Board members voted AYE: Supervisor Davina Thurston, Deputy Supervisor Karl Law, Councilpersons Sheridan Swinyer, Donna Whitelaw and JP O'Neil. The minutes note copies of vouchers and checks related to the expenses are to be included with the resolution to the County Treasurer.
