Board agrees Neighborhood Watch should be resident-run; appoints deputy supervisor as liaison

St. Armand board members and law enforcement agreed Neighborhood Watch meetings should be run by residents; Deputy Supervisor Karl Law will act as the town liaison to the group.
During the Jan. 16 meeting, Councilperson JP O’Neil explicitly suggested that "townspeople should be running the Neighborhood Watch not the Town Board." The assembled participants concurred and settled on a structure in which residents organize and operate the watch while the Town maintains awareness through a liaison.
Deputy Supervisor Karl Law was identified as the liaison to the Neighborhood Watch so the Town can remain informed without directing the group's activities. Chief Perotti recommended some membership vetting, saying volunteer organizers should be "organized and structured" and suggesting background checks could be considered for key organizers.
