Director Johnson reported the Jan. 21 public information committee meeting where Rojas and others presented outreach graphics and a preliminary 12-month strategic plan to raise public awareness of the district's mission, services and the upcoming rate study.
"One of the goals is to develop, implement strategic community outreach plan that engages, informs, and educate the community and customers about Montecito Sanitary Districts and its actions and accomplishments," Johnson said, noting the committee discussed newsletters, postcards and broader community engagement. Johnson said the committee recommended making the public information group a standing committee to continue messaging alignment with strategic planning and finance work.
The committee flagged that communicating the rate study will be a priority and sought budget and timeline details from staff and the general manager. Directors asked whether the committee has a plan to prioritize messages and tools; Johnson said the committee is still in preliminary stages and invited directors to join future meetings (a tentative February date was discussed). The board filed the report and received the presentation materials, which Johnson said are available on the district website under the public information committee section.
