At the Aug. 5 work session Destination Services reported 13,000 day passes sold as of July 26, a figure staff used to underscore how managed access both generates revenue and informs visitors about where passes are required.
Rebecca Ibarra, director of Destination Services, said the city's website funnels visitors from advertising and social posts to official pages that list river rules, parking and entry‑pass procedures. "13,000 day passes sold," she stated while explaining how day‑pass distribution also helps visitors know where passes are needed downstream.
Staff credited managed access and the single‑use container ban with reducing litter and said they will continue producing stewardship videos and blogs to reinforce rules and safe practices. Council asked staff to consider placing larger pre‑entry signage so people can return to cars if they have prohibited items before reaching gates.
