Council to repeal obsolete telephone-booth local law; draft to be circulated for seven days

Deputy Clerk Samantha Castello described the chapter as a relic from when telephone booths existed in Binghamton and said the engineering department, per corporation counsel, is no longer accepting permits for telephone booths because the infrastructure and hardware are not in place. "We no longer have the necessary hardware or infrastructure in place to operate telephone booths in the city of Binghamton," Castello said. The deputy clerk said the repeal requires a local-law vote and that council members would receive the draft to review for seven days before it returns for a vote.
