At the workshop the board accepted the fire company’s LOSAP certification packet and agreed to have the roster posted at the firehouse for 30 days so members can review the reported calls, hours and points before the roster is finalized and submitted to PenFlex for administration.
“These are all volunteers, and this is one of the ways that they get a benefit from serving us,” the Chair said, explaining why the village funds a LOSAP contribution in the annual budget. Trustees clarified that the fire company certifies reported hours and that PenFlex administers payments once certification is complete; the packet requires notarized signatures and submission by March 31 for eligibility and tax‑credit processing.
Fire-company participants described the LOSAP points system and individual examples of service credit—one participant said he has 29 years of credit and noted vesting rules—while trustees asked administrative questions about audits, active versus entitled status and how the roster is handled before submission.
