Two districts push for November 2026 vote; King City asks for delay

King City Superintendent Jennifer Taylor said her governing board supports the plan but asked for more time for community education and transition planning. Taylor said King City's resistance to the proposed speed of the calendar "has never been to prevent the community of Greenfield from pursuing unification" but that "something this important cannot be rushed to an election" and requested a delayed opening date to allow additional planning. Committee members noted the State Board of Education must also act (scheduled July 9) and that county election deadlines (mid‑August) are a practical constraint on placing a measure on the November ballot.
