Two residents used the public-comment period to press for immediate traffic-safety measures in their neighborhoods.
Molly Blanton (S4), representing the Woodmont Coroner's Neighborhood, said she was joined by her daughter Elle as a reminder of the children they are trying to protect and described a recent close call: "Just 2 months ago, Elle was almost hit by a speeding car in our neighborhood." Blanton asked the commission to approve two stop signs—at Auburn and Dartmouth—and said vegetation trimming and other measures are helpful but do not address the blind curve at Dartmouth.
Billy Core (S5), representing 167 residents of Clarendale West End Senior Living, asked for stop signs at Fairmont Drive and both sides of Ackland Park Drive and requested a no-parking sign in front of the MAA Ackland Park Apartments to address illegal parking. "We're asking for stop signs to include the current 1 on Fairmont Drive and add 2 stop signs in both sides of Ackland Park Drive," Core said, urging the commission to give attention to the safety of senior residents.
