Fairgrounds capital projects: 20% of construction budget spent; key roadway work deferred until after fair

Ed Henley told commissioners that the campus has reached a meaningful milestone with about 20% of the construction budget expended and an overall contingency that remains above 3 percent, although he cautioned that the financial dashboard is 45–60 days in arrears and numbers may shift.
"As we've now progressed to a meaningful milestone, with 20% of the construction budget that's been allocated now being hit...we still have an overall contingency that's above 3%," Henley said.
Don Collins (Engineering) gave project-level details: installation of 8-inch and 12-inch water lines on Wingrove with required testing, reconnection of a 4-inch private Fairgrounds water line after the fair, ongoing stormwater and coordination with utility owners (AT&T) near fiber infrastructure, and that full-depth roadway reconstruction on Nontal Road will begin only after the fair concludes.
Board members noted the timing of work relative to fair operations and asked staff to keep traffic-control plans and staging details updated as utility and paving work proceeds.
