The board publicly recognized the James Ivey mock‑trial team for winning county competition and advancing to regionals, thanking coaches and applauding student skill and dedication. Several team members were invited to stand and accept recognition.
The Mayor also announced five youths—Alex McLeod, John and Patrick Flynn, Jessica Tracy and Kanai Tessaro—who assisted in a rescue at Brooks Park will be honored at the Orange County legislative meeting on July 3. “They jumped into action,” the Mayor said, and the board flagged the county ceremony as an opportunity to celebrate youth courage.
Trustees encouraged community support for youth programs and noted that volunteering and coaching are essential for civic engagement; the board invited attendees to stay for the meeting recognition and subsequent presentations.
