The Village of Highland Falls set a public hearing for July 7, 2025, to consider a proposal to remove fluoride from the public water system. The mayor said the board will present information on both sides of the issue, invite local dental professionals and county health representatives, and keep the hearing open to collect public feedback before making any policy decision.
“I most likely think that the public hearing will be remaining open. We will present some facts and information to we will present some information, fact facts to the public, both sides,” the Mayor said, emphasizing the board’s intent to provide context and expert testimony. Trustees noted that communities elsewhere have pursued similar processes and that the county board of health has advised the village about the required steps.
The hearing will begin immediately after the county CPPG public hearing on 07/07/2025 at 7 p.m. at the Village of Highland Falls Senior Center, 15 Drew Avenue. Staff said they will publish meeting materials and supporting studies on the village website when available and host an open house prior to the hearing to allow residents to review information.
