City enforcement has added photo enforcement to school-zone monitoring for the year, an agency official said, and stressed the school-zone speed limit drivers must obey. "We have implemented a photo enforcement program in all of the school zones too for this year," the official said, and added: "the school zone speed limit is 20 miles an hour. Not 22, not 25, 20 miles an hour."
When asked for statistics about citations issued last year, the official said the agency did not have the numbers on hand but could gather traditional citation data on request. The official encouraged drivers to slow down, use headlights in poor weather and to treat outages and unusual conditions cautiously so that enforcement and education can reduce risk around schools.
