An agency official urged motorists in Dayton to slow down and expect extra activity on roads as Dayton Public Schools and others reopen. The official also emphasized legal obligations when school buses use flashing red lights and an extended stop arm, noting: "For the school buses, when a school bus displays flashing red lights and extended stop arm, drivers must stop. It's the law. It's not negotiable." The official said that when drivers are unsure whether they must stop, "when in doubt, just stop" and wait for the bus to move to ensure children's safety. The agency advised callers to report violations by calling the nonemergency number and providing license-plate information so enforcement can be targeted.
