Public Works Director Sean Eichler presented the city's 2025 Urban Water Management Plan and associated water-shortage contingency plan, saying the plan is required every five years and positions the city for future grants and loans. Eichler reported that "In 2025, the city supplied approximately 6,636 acre feet of water or 2,160,000,000 gallons of water" and projected supplies through 2050 at just under 7,000 acre-feet; the plan also details a six-level shortage response that can be implemented during droughts or other supply emergencies.
Council members asked about current watering restrictions and outreach. Eichler told the council the city is in stage two restrictions and summarized the rules (watering allowed Monday and Thursday; no outdoor watering 9AM'5PM; no runoff; no washing sidewalks; car washing only at commercial washes or with a positive shutoff nozzle). The council adopted the plan unanimously, satisfying state requirements and preserving eligibility for water grants and loans.
