Sheridan fourth-graders demonstrate 'critical thinking' and donate 517 boxes of cereal

"Critical thinking is using your experience, knowledge, and creativity to make smart decisions," a student said during the presentation, giving examples from sports, math and classroom problem solving. Milske and the students also described a recent domino challenge service project: the students organized a display and collected 517 boxes of cereal that were donated to Phil a Heart to support children who need breakfast.
Presenters said the domino event has run for five years and gives students a chance to practice multiple competencies, including citizenship and empathy, while contributing to the community. Board members praised the students' work and briefly asked questions about logistics of the event.
The district said it will post the student-spotlight materials and encouraged families to view the display and related information on the district website.
