Residents urge growth and expanded child-care services during public comment

During the public-comment portion of the meeting several residents told commissioners they support growth and new development. One longtime resident described changing local conditions and said smaller lots and new housing can keep communities vibrant.
Tiffany Thompson, who identified herself as a board member of Generations Next, told the commission the county needs more child-care capacity and outlined efforts tied to a FEMA project that could expand child care in Springfield. "If you know anybody who's looking for child care in Robertson County, especially Springfield, you know that it's in short supply," Thompson said, urging the commission to support programs that expand access.
Other commenters praised the Vesper Village concept as an opportunity to bring restaurants, grocery options and amenities sooner by building a spine road supported by the TIF. Commissioners heard the comments during the public-comment period prior to the planning and zoning and development discussion.
