Recreation commission seeks village input with new parks survey; trustees give design feedback

The recreation commission presented a draft survey intended to update community input on parks, facilities and programming. The committee plans to distribute the survey online (Typeform/Google form) with QR codes, email blasts, social posts and hard copies at the library and senior center.

"Essentially, what we'd like to do is pull the community, village residents, and town residents to see, what they think of our parks and facilities, areas where we can improve, and, as well as potential programming that we could have either for children, teens, adults," the committee representative said, describing an open-ended approach to gather ideas and to prioritize improvements.

Trustees recommended limiting questions about facilities to the village of Cold Spring (rather than town-wide), adding Dockside-specific questions because Dockside is a state park managed by the village, and adding explicit questions for teens and access modes (pedestrian vs. driving). Trustees also raised the risk of coordinated multiple submissions and asked the commission to propose methods (unique identifiers for digital responses, controlled return codes for paper surveys) before distribution. The commission said it will revise the draft and return with a distribution and anti-duplication plan.
