Representatives from Safeco briefed the board on results from a pilot installation of the Soteria integrated threat-detection and evacuation system, describing gunshot detectors, in-room indicators and projected floor/ wall guidance. "Soteria is an integrated threat detection notification evacuation system," the vendor told the board as part of a presentation that also described a customer portal with lockdown, evacuate and weather buttons.
The vendor described an auto-call feature that would automatically call a predetermined number and play a recorded message when a potential gunshot is detected, saying the feature helps speed dispatcher awareness. They reported no false positives during the pilot months but acknowledged the system may miss very low-energy rounds (for example some .22-caliber shots) if thresholds are adjusted for false-positive avoidance. The vendor recommended a full district install pending procurement and implementation planning.
