Arcola advances community center project and plans cultural festival, gallery dedication

Williams also announced cultural programming: she proposed an annual cultural festival to showcase the city's diversity and said a gallery dedication is planned for February 2025 to highlight Arcola’s history through art. City staff and a receptionist (Clara Furlough) described past community events such as barbecues and live entertainment, and officials said they plan to reimagine the city food court as a community gathering space.
Officials framed the community-center effort as a collaborative project involving nonprofit partners and architects; no formal construction schedule or funding breakdown was provided at the meeting.
