During reports from the Director of Schools, Dr. Winstead said construction and renovation work across the district is progressing. At the Performing Arts Center at Maryville High School the arches are now visible and roofing is expected to begin within weeks; the school's expanded kitchen is in use with three new serving lines operational. Construction at Sam Houston is proceeding and paving is expected to be completed by Labor Day, and the EIC has received its certificate of occupancy and hosted an open house for parents.
Dr. Winstead also noted typical traffic challenges at the start of the school year and said teachers affected by grade reconfiguration will be notified of anticipated assignments before the September board meeting, with transfer requests and staffing finalizations to follow. He added that potential rezoning matters are expected to come before the board in October.
