The SCOTTSBLUFF PUBLIC SCHOOLS Board of Education adopted its consent agenda and approved the minutes from the July 13, 2026, meeting before voting to authorize a set of district expenditures totaling $1,605,935.16.
Chair called for approval of the expenses as presented and moved the question; after a second the board approved the payment list. "The 1st 1 are the expenditures without those for the law firm ... in the amount of $1,605,935.16," the chair said when presenting the item. The board later approved a separate invoice of $362.50 from the law firm Douglas, Kelly, Austic, Snyder, Ocean, and Vogel; during that item a board member noted one payment was "outstanding because of conflict of interest." The law-firm invoice motion passed on voice vote.
The board handled these items as standard fiscal business under the consent procedure, which bundles noncontroversial items into a single motion unless a member asks to remove an item for separate consideration. No member asked to separate either expenditure during the meeting, and board members voting in favor included Lang, Snyder, Merrigan, Schwartz and others as recorded during roll call.
