Local development director highlights workforce partners — Ivy Tech, IU East, WorkOne

Brad Coulter said attracting employers requires building workforce capacity and aligning training with employer needs. He listed partners EDG works with — the career center, Ivy Tech, IU East and Eastern Indiana Works (which runs WorkOne centers) — and emphasized that training pipelines are foundational before chasing large recruitment wins.
"You have to get with and engage and stay actively engaged with all those groups to make sure that you're training people and that you're building the right kind of training that is needed in today's workforce," Coulter said. He added that companies look at a community's workforce readiness and that EDG focuses on connecting training organizations with employer needs.
Coulter also described a regional entrepreneur training effort (the REIT project) that brings people from Henry, Rush and Fayette counties together to learn how to start and run small businesses and to share skills and resources.
