Multiple residents raised concerns during public comment July 8 about utility bills arriving late because of postal processing changes and sought waivers for late fees.
Resident S6 described several bills that arrived close to or after due dates and said the delays led to unexpected late fees. S12 (office/treasurer) told the board, "This month, we know we had a really bad experience with the post office... so I did ask the office to waive the late fees on the ones coming in this month." Trustees and staff discussed email billing, autopay and viewing bills online as alternatives for residents who want more reliable delivery.
The board recorded that the office would waive late fees for affected June mailings and advised residents to consider email billing or autopay to avoid future postal delays. Trustees emphasized the office cannot retroactively determine intent for every claim but will handle proven postal-delay cases on a limited basis.
