The Franklin City Board of Zoning Appeals opened its Aug. 6 meeting, approved the June meeting minutes, heard staff and applicant presentations on two variance requests for 880 Oak Meadow Drive and one residential setback encroachment for 935 Lewisburg Avenue, and adjourned after final procedural items.
Key votes at the meeting included approval of a 220-foot setback from Oak Meadow Drive and a 107-foot setback from Riverside Drive for the 13.3-acre parcel at 880 Oak Meadow Drive, and approval of a 30-foot encroachment into a 60-foot Mac Hatcher setback for a house at 935 Lewisburg Avenue (3–1). Staff emphasized easements, topography and stormwater management in the Oak Meadow and Riverside discussions; applicants cited fire-department access and owner design preferences. There were no citizen speakers during the public-comment periods for the items discussed.
The board noted that site-plan review, platting and potential sewer-extension work remain necessary before any building permits are issued, and that the fire department will need to sign off on final apparatus-access arrangements during the site-plan stage.
