Davis Junction board approves $26,562 change order for Gateway Subdivision after IDOT revisions

At its July 22 meeting, the Davis Junction Administrative Board approved resolution 25-33 authorizing a $26,562.40 change order to the Gateway Subdivision infrastructure contract. The board was told the increase stems from IDOT-required right-of-way adjustments, added pavement binder at subdivision entrances, and a handful of smaller items such as modified concrete end sections and additional traffic-control work.

The board’s presenter explained the procedural timeline: plans were submitted to IDOT and bids were advertised nearly simultaneously, so IDOT’s comments arrived after bids were opened and required plan revisions. The presenter said the entrance sections now require 8.5 inches of binder (compared with 4.5 inches within the subdivision) because the state right-of-way moved further south at the entrances. The presenter also listed incremental costs: about $6,200 for four modified concrete end sections, roughly $1,200 for delineators, about $300 for larger stop signs and a traffic-control item of approximately $7,500. "They're having us put, concrete barrier wall in at the 2 receiving pits," the presenter said when describing safety measures for water-main boring.

Board members also discussed contractor logistics: temporary access to the site and the contractor’s estimate for bringing stone (discussed on the record at roughly $20,000–$23,000 if material cannot be reused). The presenter noted the grant for the work has an extension through June 30 of next year and that the immediate gating item is securing recorded right-of-way documents so IDOT can issue access permits.

For the record, a board member stated the change-order total as "$26,562.40 on the approximately $22,000,000 project," which the presenter characterized as "a little bit under 1%." The resolution was moved, seconded, put to roll call and carried.
