Superintendent (role: Superintendent) told the board the district posted an ED assistant position to support the middle-school ED program and expects to hire once the coop reimbursement and interviews are complete. "We just posted this last week. We hire the assistant," she said.
She said a guidance-counselor position is open with three or four applicants and the district "will probably begin the year without that position being filled" while the board seeks the right candidate. The superintendent also said an elementary PE teacher submitted a resignation effective Aug. 24; the district has about two weeks to fill that vacancy.
On the personnel agenda the superintendent asked the board to remove the EL-assistant candidate after that person withdrew. "To be clear, we are not hiring. I'm asking that you strike the, EL assistant that was recommended at the high school," she said. Board member Eric moved to strike the name and Andrew seconded; the Chair called the motion and it carried as recorded in the meeting record.
