Haney seeks on‑farm business designation to host classes and sell tree products

At the June 11 meeting Dwyer Haney described an on‑farm business request to allow on‑site classes, sales of tree products and limited hosting of meals or demonstrations. Haney said the operation grows trees ("mainly mulberries and chestnuts") and has "approx. 120 different species planted." He proposed two parking areas mowed into pasture rather than gravel, separate pedestrian paths for visitors, and said he did not plan routine winter parking or plowing.
Haney told the board he expects many events to be small and said he would encourage car‑pooling, seating limits and plant buffers around parking. He said he would rent compliant sanitation facilities when events require them and that the southern parking area is sometimes wet and currently used for woodchip storage. Neighbors and board members probed how product distribution currently reaches customers (Haney said he markets in town centers) and whether the application met local on‑farm requirements under town bylaws and state agricultural rules.
