City council appointee Sheldon Yazzie introduced as ex officio commissioner

Sheldon Yazzie, the City Council’s newly appointed ex officio member from the Intergovernmental/Indigenous Planning Advisory Council (IPAC), introduced himself at the Aug. 6 Flagstaff Indigenous Commission meeting.
"My name is Sheldon Yazzie. I am from originally from a small ... village called White Mesa, Arizona, near Chiltern Btoe on the Navajo Nation," Yazzie said, describing a background that includes volunteering, participating in local diversity work and providing Navajo‑language readings at the library. He said he runs a financial services business that provides bookkeeping, planning and tax strategy and that he started on IPAC in April.
Commissioners welcomed Yazzie and said they looked forward to his assistance on outreach, sponsorship requests and collaboration with other commissions and IPAC on regional events.
