Diana Walters, a Bandera business owner and Pike Creek resident, introduced the Bandera Equine Posse during the public-comment portion of the Economic Development Corporation meeting, describing a new nonprofit formed to “preserve the heritage of horses and the cowboy way in Bandera.” Walters said the group is finalizing bylaws and plans to register as a 501(c)(3).
Walters proposed a preliminary idea she called the Bandera livery — a fenced, ventilated tie-up area near downtown (a Quonset-hut style structure was suggested) where visitors could secure horses while they shop. “We’ve called it the Bandera Equine Posse,” Walters said, explaining that the livery would include hitching rails and web cameras tied to QR codes so owners can check their horses remotely. The EDC chair said members look forward to reviewing an application when the group submits formal plans.
