Communications staff, introduced by the superintendent as "Mister Gaff and Miss Scurge," presented the district’s communications goals and said the effort is aimed at increasing transparency and stakeholder engagement ahead of a potential fall referendum. "So as you may have noticed, we've tried to take a much more significant social media presence this year," said Mister Gaff.
The presenter said ParentSquare traffic and family engagement have climbed, noting on one slide that the district was "up 61% from where we were this time last year." He described the plan’s three goals as: a clear, coordinated district communication plan; a unified marketing plan that leans on social media; and stronger external partnerships to amplify student achievements.
Board members and staff discussed practical steps to make results and athletic schedules more visible, including standardizing page names, monitoring accounts so multiple staff can post, and setting expectations that coaches provide weekly updates to improve the speed and reach of score reporting and event results.
The communications team also said it will continue in-person outreach to community groups (rotary clubs, churches) so that families who do not use digital channels remain informed. The presenters emphasized that increased social engagement has helped the district surface student achievements and events more broadly.
