Smith-Green principal highlights student wins at Scholastic Art & Writing awards

The Principal noted seniors Addison Reed and Jillian Wright led the pack, earning 11 awards between them. "Jillian here earned 1 honorable mention, 2 silver keys, and an impressive 3 gold keys," the Principal added, and said Wright’s Gold Key pieces will advance to nationals in New York City. The board was invited to the district art show on Sunday, May 3, where the students’ work will be displayed.
The presentation also tied student recognition to scholarship competitiveness: the Principal said both seniors have been finalists for external awards including the Chapman scholar scholarship and regional competitions. The announcement drew congratulations from board members and staff, who described the student work as an example of the district’s academic and arts success.
Looking ahead, the Principal said a full project list tied to recent athletics and arts fundraising will be presented next month so the board can see which capital or program items donors are supporting.
