Soundmasters choir of 24 students performs, will attend FAME Festival in March

S1, a presenter for Smith-Green Community Schools, introduced the Soundmasters, a choir of 24 fourth- and fifth-grade students who rehearse during the school-day enrichment period and have performed at community events this fall. "We have 24 students currently in it," S1 said, and described the group’s appearances at the Veterans Day program and the town Christmas tree lighting.
Students and the presenter told the board the group recorded a short sample at rehearsal and that the Soundmasters will perform at the Foundation for Art, Music, and Education (FAME) Festival in Fort Wayne on March 14–15. A student who spoke during the presentation (S4) described part of the performance: "In the warm here, really, there was some people that had secret choreography," giving the board a snapshot of the group's rehearsal experience. The presenter said the district may reopen choir enrollment in spring and is exploring additional community performances, including at a nursing home.
