The council reviewed a resolution assessing whether Marine Realty LLC, doing business as Bennington Marine South, satisfied its statement of benefits. Economic development staff said the company completed a capital investment of roughly $3.7 million but remained under job targets (reporting 14 of 19 new hires, or 73% compliance on jobs). Mike Shettevie, the company’s general manager, described internal workforce-development programs, including a "Master Builder" training program and investments in tooling and a paint facility that increased average wages in the south building by 26%.
After questions from council members about competition and market conditions, the council moved to find Bennington Marine in compliance and approved the resolution. Staff said the company’s investments and wage gains supported the compliance finding even as the company works to increase headcount.
