Town planners told the commission that, given the number of planning documents completed since the last comprehensive-plan adoption in 2021, staff plans to propose a full plan update in 2028.
"We'll probably be proposing after we get through the topics we presented on tonight, probably a 2028 project to update our comprehensive plan in whole," Mr. Byrd said, noting the town adopted the existing plan on Aug. 2, 2021 and that several implementing studies (parks and trails, water source development, housing reports) now exist to feed a new long-range vision. Mr. Berg added that consultants will likely augment in-house capacity because of the volume of work.
Staff said the update will tie current elements together, identify remaining gaps, and set goals for the next 20 years; no budget or consultant contract was finalized during the briefing and the commission did not take formal action.
