Planners present HNA technical addendum and outline housing action plan process

Hayden Checkat, planner 1, told commissioners staff selected Matrix Design to prepare a technical addendum to Wellington's housing needs and affordability assessment so the town can use the more recent 2020—2024 American Community Survey data.
"This update should be complete by, I think, October of this year, and we will bring it before this commission to accept and to discuss any outstanding takeaways," Checkat said. He described the addendum as updating tables and figures and adding limited new sections required by the Department of Local Affairs; the addendum will form the technical foundation for a housing action plan (HAP).
Checkat said the HAP is the implementation counterpart to the HNA: where the HNA identifies gaps and needs, the HAP turns those findings into policy recommendations and actions. Staff said the town will solicit consulting services to draft the HAP, which when complete will be rolled into the comprehensive plan and used to inform implementation.
