The board approved a motion to contract with Richard L. Johnson (GMB) to perform the district's long-range master facilities plan. Board members noted that both the facilities long-range planning committee and business services had reviewed and recommended the selection.
The board also approved a 10-year life-safety survey to be performed by Richard L. Johnson (GMB) on all school buildings; staff emphasized a desire to begin work as soon as students are out of the buildings to avoid disrupting instructional time. Treasurer Joe said the master plan will be funded from Fund 60 (capital projects) and the life-safety work from Fund 90 (health and safety), so these costs will not hit operating funds.
A pre-bid meeting for a separate asphalt project for parking lots was held that day and staff said eight companies attended the pre-bid meeting. The board voted to approve both the master facilities plan contract and the life-safety survey on roll call.
