City Manager (speaker 5) delivered a quarterly report and highlighted several items at the Jan. 20 meeting, including publication timing for the next city newsletter and ongoing work on council goals. The manager said the spring edition of the newsletter is slated to be mailed the last week of March and asked council members to submit article ideas.
The city manager also reported that council'appointed consultants (Clifford Moss) met with an ad hoc committee earlier that day to begin creating a polling survey for a potential parcel tax; the survey results are scheduled for presentation to the council in April. The manager noted increased building-permit activity and staffing approaches (contract inspectors and plan-check consultants) being used to keep permit processing and inspections timely.
Councilmembers asked about staff capacity and were told inspections are generally schedulable within days and that a contract inspector has been handling fieldwork while a regular inspector recovers.
