Monte Sereno names Terry McCarthy as alternate to Silicon Valley Clean Energy board

The Monte Sereno City Council appointed Terry McCarthy as the city's alternate representative to the Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) board at its Jan. 20 meeting. The city clerk reported three applicants; McCarthy spoke in person about decades of work in the solar industry and service on corporate boards.
McCarthy said he had been engaged in the clean-energy sector and had attended SVCE board meetings to learn about electricity distribution and generation. "I've been here since 1976...resident of Monte Sereno for about 15 years now," McCarthy said in introducing himself. Another applicant, Michael Heffernan (speaking remotely), described experience in regional insurance and risk management and said he would be willing to serve on committees if not selected as alternate.
Councilmembers thanked both applicants and noted the city will maintain records of interested residents for future openings. Councilmember (speaker 3) moved to appoint McCarthy as the alternate; the motion passed by voice vote.
McCarthy said he would begin engaging immediately and the city manager and staff will provide onboarding materials.
