"Last year, we put in about 40 trees," committee member Warren Skinner said, describing ash‑remediation work completed through an awarded grant and the committee’s ongoing volunteer nursery program. The group said it aims to plant about 25 trees this year along the village right‑of‑way but noted there is limited space between sidewalks and streets, which often requires door‑to‑door outreach to property owners where front‑yard planting is proposed.
Committee members also described educational outreach (Arbor Day events at two schools) and a volunteer-driven nursery that produces low‑cost stock for future plantings. Council members thanked the committee for its work and pressed staff to coordinate tree‑friendly elements in the city’s potential new comprehensive plan and land‑development code updates.
