Board honors Everyday Hero Bobby Leach and names Amy Louder statewide Safety Director of the Year

The board presented an Everyday Hero Award to Bobby Leach, a group leader recognized for dedication to students and families, and celebrated Amy Louder, executive director of school safety, as the 2026 North Carolina Center for Safer Schools Safety Director of the Year.
The Cabarrus County Board of Education recognized two employees for service to students and schools.
Dr. Jonathan Bowers introduced Miss Bobby Leach, a group leader at Weinkauf Elementary (formerly of Patriots Elementary), as the district's Everyday Hero Award recipient. Amber Diggins, identified as the director of the Kids Plus program, shared testimonials praising Leach's classroom relationships, reliability and work with families.
Separately, Dr. John LeGrand presented the 2026 North Carolina Center for Safer Schools Safety Director of the Year award to Amy Louder, the district's executive director of school safety, noting the honor was conferred at the state conference on Aug. 4 and citing Louder's work on crisis preparedness, expanded mental-health supports and community partnerships.
