The Cabarrus County Board of Education approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) amendment for the Northwest Elementary School project that adds $39,513,891 to the construction contract, bringing the total GMP for construction and site development to $48,959,901.
"It was the approval of the A133 20 19 GMP amendment for the balance of construction for the Northwest Elementary School project in the amount of $39,513,891," said the presenter returned to the podium. He told the board that, "the total guaranteed maximum price for the project is $48,959,901. That's for the construction and site development." The presenter confirmed that furniture and other district-incurred costs are outside the contractor's GMP scope.
Board members voted to approve the amendment after the presentation; the approval was recorded by voice vote. The board did not identify additional amendments or conditions during the public discussion. The district said the GMP covers construction and site development; other project expenses such as furnishings and equipment were described as outside the contractor's scope and will be budgeted separately.
