Steger board creates executive administrative assistant position, authorizes police lateral listing
Summary
After an executive session, trustees voted unanimously to create an Executive Administrative Assistant position for the mayor and village administrator and to post a lateral, full-time police opening. Both actions were approved by roll-call vote when the board reconvened at 7:34 p.m.
The Village of Steger Board of Trustees reconvened at 7:34 p.m. and approved two personnel actions the board had discussed in executive session. Trustee Perchinski moved to create "the position of Executive Administrative Assistant to the Mayor and Village Administrator at the wage discussed in Executive Session," and Trustee Thurmond seconded the motion. The motion passed in a roll-call vote by the five trustees present (Hanus, Kaminski, Thurmond, Trotier and Perchinski); Trustee Stewart was absent.
Trustees also approved a motion to "list Lateral for Full-time for our Police Department with compensation as discussed in Executive Session," again moved by Trustee Perchinski and seconded by Trustee Thurmond. Village Attorney Vlado Vranjes joined the meeting before these votes. The board did not record any dissent on either motion. Both actions implement personnel decisions the board signaled it would address after private deliberations under the Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/2).
