Council approves Oklahoma Christian Academy sports-complex rezoning with drainage commitments

Will Blanchard, the school’s headmaster, said the project is intended as a practice facility for students and emphasized commitments to address drainage, fencing and neighbor concerns. Residents attending the hearing asked for two access points to reduce queuing and pedestrian conflicts; the applicant’s representative said city staff suggested a centralized driveway and that detention area capacity will be expanded from about 0.1 acres to roughly 0.37 acres.
Councilmembers expressed support for the project while asking staff and the applicant to ensure proper pedestrian safety measures and drainage design. After a motion, the council approved the rezoning 5–0.
The applicant and engineers will proceed with detailed engineering and city review as the project moves toward site‑plan approvals and construction.
